EN388:2016+A1:2018 - Mechanical Hazards

Protection against mechanical hazards in respect of physical and mechanical stress caused by abrasion, blade cut, tear and puncture. The table below indicates the glove’s resistance to:

4 = Abrasion
X = Blade Cut* (coup)
4 = Tear
2 = Puncture
F = Straight Blade Cut (EN ISO 13997)

Where 1 indicates the lowest performance. X that the test was not performed or not possible. A 0 rating indicates that during the test level 1 was not reached.

Who this glove was designed for

Operatives who need to perform precision tasks whilst still maintaining the highest level of mechanical cut resistance.

Why we developed this glove

We had identified a need for a better suited glove for precise activities, such as terminating end cables. We found that operatives were using cut resistant gloves (index D and above) but that these gloves did not offer the right levels of dexterity to perform the tasks. To overcome this, they were typically doing one of the following three things:

a) Cutting the fingertips off their existing gloves, or
b) Using gloves that already had the fingertips removed, or
c) Removing their gloves completely

The solution

All three options above left fingertips or whole hands exposed to injury. Unsurprisingly, it is reported that 70% of hand injuries occur when gloves are not on hands, and that more frequent injuries occurred when fingertips are left exposed.

The Rayza RX562 glove was a ‘first to market’ in the UK owing to its combination of an extremely lightweight liner (21 gauge) and highest mechanical cut resistance (index F). It’s revolutionary introduction means operatives no longer have exposed fingertips or hands and will instead have a glove that focuses on achieving comfort, functionality, and protection without compromise.
