Identifying the problem

Bites were a significant and reoccurring issue. Every penetration would mean the individual endured:

  • The trauma of a bite injury that has penetrated the skin
  • Hospital admittance
  • A full body flush-out

Beyond the human impact, there were significant losses for the business too, including lost working time and lengthy investigations. Bite injuries were also a main contributor to the frequent resignation of employees.

Existing hand protection failed to adequately protect the guards. The challenge was to find a comfortable. lightweight glove that fully protects against the penetration of bites and saliva but dextrous enough for tasks such as unlocking double-barred handcuffs.

FINDING A SOLUTION

It became the first glove to deliver a truly fail-safe solution for bite protection at the site.

DELIVERING THE OUTCOME

They Rayza RX564 has been put to the test on the frontline. During an incident in which a guard was bitten on the hand, the glove completely prevented penetration and saliva contamination.

The result: no hospitalisation, no time off work, no long-term impact on the employee or operation.
